In Aqua Road, I got an Emerald. What is this? I know it's for the previous Cassandra, but why did I get it now? o.O

I had received some Emeralds before the Cassandra event started. I think they might have a very low drop rate normally. Maybe the dev team thought they could be useful at some point? Or maybe they forgot to take out the drop code from some monsters. I had about 3 before the event started.
